Training and Employment

Opportunities for research training at NIDDK are as diverse as the research conducted within the intramural program. Training positions at the Postdoctoral, Predoctoral, Postbaccalaureate, and Summer Student levels are available in the Institute's Laboratories and Branches across a wide spectrum of basic science disciplines, including molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, organic and medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and structural biology, to name a few.

There are also many clinical training opportunities in diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolic diseases, in obesity and nutrition, in gastroenterology and liver diseases, and in kidney and hematologic diseases.

Training in NIDDK's intramural research program is truly an enriching and rewarding experience. The superb environment offers Fellows the chance to learn from some of the world's outstanding scientists, to participate in vital scientific and clinical investigations that impact on human health, and to contribute in a meaningful way to important discoveries that are being made every day.

Educational and Training Opportunities

The NIDDK Fellowship Office (fellowshipoffice.niddk.nih.gov ) can provide detailed information regarding all aspects of research training and career development within the intramural program. Consider this as the best and most comprehensive resource of information.

By assisting in recruitment, serving as an advocate for all Fellows, creating educational and learning opportunities, and acting as a liaison between Fellows and their Mentors, the Fellowship Office fulfills a vital role at the Institute.

Explore the site and cruise the links to learn more about the Office’s mission, its involvement in every facet of the training experience, and its broad portfolio of activities and services.
